We are delighted to share that the next and third iteration of ‘The India Experience” has been confirmed to be held from 7 to 18 October 2025. This time, we are taking the students to Chennai (8-11 Oct) and Coimbatore (12-17 Oct), two of the metropolitan cities of Tamil Nadu.

The India Experience’ is extended to Singaporean undergraduates and postgraduates, of all races.

The programme is heavily subsidised, with 80% of the overall cost, borne by SIPF Singapore. Participating students only pay 20% of their air ticket, visa, insurance, etc. Students have to purchase their own return air ticket on the dates and flights confirmed by the organisers and apply for visa and travel insurance accordingly . SIPF Singapore will reimburse the students upon submission of official payment receipts and invoices.

Local hospitality, including accommodation, local transport, meals, etc., are fully covered. The students will stay on double room-occupancy (same gender) with attached toilet facilities at the IIT Madras Campus in Chennai and the Kumaraguru College of Technology Campus in Coimbatore

In addition, students will be given a daily stipend of S$20 during the immersion programme.

All applications will be reviewed by SIPF Singapore. Successful applicants will be notified by 15 September 2025, and an online orientation will be held with students selected for the programme.

About SIPF

The SIPF was launched by then-Senior Minister of Singapore, Mr Goh Chok Tong, on 14 January 2006. The SIPF aims is to strengthen the social, economic, political, and cultural linkages between Singapore and India. The Foundation’s core work is to drive initiatives promoting study visits of influential people, opinion makers, and people who can contribute to better ties between Singapore and India. Fellowships and awards are also given to outstanding individuals from various fields in the government, private sector, and academia. In addition, the Foundation looks at promoting student exchanges and other activities.

The students' exchange initiative took off in October 2023, with the Singapore and India chapters of SIPF agreeing to organise an annual immersion programme for students from institutions of higher education in both countries. The programme will be alternated between Singapore and India. Themed ‘The India Experience’, two iterations of the immersion programmes to Pune were successfully concluded in 2023 and 2024. In July this year, 12 students from three universities in India participated in the inaugural ‘The SG Experience’.
