About the Speaker, Mr Jack Sim
Also known as Mr Toilet, Jack is a Singaporean social entrepreneur and philanthropist who has become globally recognized for his pioneering efforts in sanitation advocacy and public health.

From a poor kid who failed at school to a global game-changer, Jack Sim used one simple thing, gumption, to spark a revolution. (excerpt from the book he authored)

Key achievements:

  • Author of “The Gumption of Mr Toilet, Mobilizing the World to Effect Change (published in 2024) and Simple Jack (published in 2011)
  • Founder of the Restroom Association of Singapore, the World Toilet Organization (WTO), and the World Toilet Day initiative, now officially recognised by the United Nations on November 19.
  • Founder of the BoP (Bottom of the Pyramid) Hub and continues to create social businesses and projects aiming to lift the global poor out of poverty.
  • His work has broken down taboos around sanitation, mobilized international support, and turned toilets into a global conversation topic.
  • He has received numerous accolades, including being named a Schwab Foundation Social Entrepreneur of the Year, an Ashoka Global Fellow, and one of Time Magazine’s Heroes of the Environment
