About the panel

The maritime industry spans diverse sectors, including international trade, ship design and repair, maritime legal services, and ancillary services. Singapore remains a global maritime hub with over 5,000 maritime companies and 130 international shipping groups. In 2023, the Port of Singapore achieved record milestones, including over 3 billion Gross Tons (GT) of vessel arrivals and 39.01 million TEUs of container throughput. The Singapore Registry of Ships also surpassed 100 million GT, cementing its global standing. To drive growth, initiatives like the Maritime Sector Incentive Scheme and MCF – Sustainability support decarbonisation and innovation. Tuas Port's expansion and advancements in digital technologies, such as Just-In-Time planning and digital bunkering, enhance efficiency and sustainability. Workforce development efforts, including Career Conversion Programs and training in green and digital technologies, ensure Singapore remains at the forefront of maritime innovation. Therefore, Advisory hopes to connect students with an interest in such work with professionals in the field through Discover+: Maritime.
