The unique collection includes thesis by Goh Chok Tong, Joanna Dong, Catherine Lim and S. R. Nathan, to name a few. These works represent scholarship from the last 50 years, highlighting scientific discoveries of our local luminaries.

To further knowledge discovery on this topic which holds many practical implications, our team visualised the research data into a digital exhibit that promotes interaction and reflection.

3. Yewno Discovery is a search tool that offers a whole new experience when exploring for ideas. It harnesses hundreds of millions of semantic connections and conceptual links from millions of scholarly works and databases across all academic fields. We introduced Yewno Discovery to ensure a comprehensive coverage which in turn enhances understanding and the creation of more impactful work.

1. In line with a digitally-centric landscape, the Digital Scholarship Portal was built to offer a virtual platform that promotes the advancement of digital scholarship. The portal includes a tool which enables the creation of interactive websites to tell stories with data. Users can build simple, dynamic and interactive multi-media digital exhibits with features that encourage a rapid iterative prototyping approach.

2. Collaborated with NUS Department of Geography to produce the Historical Maps of Singapore website. Featuring 31 sets of Singapore maps published from 1846 to 2010, the website enables the study of Singapore’s changing landscape over time using GIS softwares that boast vast analytical and visualisation capabilities.

1. Debuted the Researcher Unbound Symposium --- a 2-day event to provide necessary knowledge, as well as opportunities for our graduate students and early-career researchers to jump start their research journey. Expert speakers from the research and publishing community offered applicable insights through a mix of topics to promote learning and catalyse discovery. The inaugural event saw close to 200 attendees participating in the intensive exchange.

2. Scaled up the Researcher Unbound workshop series to cater to a wider variety of topics such as those related to Singapore Studies as well as emerging digital, media and data visualisation literacies. A total of 60 workshops were offered in 2018, an increase of 34%. Since its debut in 2016, its popularity has seen it turn into our flagship, offering a range of topics that support diverse research and learning needs.

3. Organised the inaugural Research Impact @ NUS: Measuring, Translating & Increasing event in collaboration with PVO and ILO, to bring greater awareness among the NUS Community on various facets of research impact.

1. Officially kicked off Central Library’s revitalisation works. The total project period would take approximately 24 months, with plans to complete by July 2020. Upon completion, we unveil a brand-new library that marries technology/innovation with energy preservation while retaining the library’s heritage charm. At the core of the plan, we aim to build an activity hub that brings the NUS community together to promote endless discovery, scholarly engagement and research opportunities. The first phase of revitalisation focuses on Level 1 and 2, where we will introduce new exciting changes including a new main entrance, exhibition space, café and book bridge, amongst others.

2. Launched the TEL Imaginarium to showcase technology-enabled devices that facilitate experiential learning. Featuring tools such as a mixed reality room, hololens, leap motion and project mapping, amongst others, it enables learning and teaching to be immersive, effective and fun.

3. Repurposed the Collaboration Space into the Digital Scholarship Lab (DS Lab) at Central Library. The new space is home to high-performance facilities that support computationally-intensive processing and visualisation such as big multi-touch screens, cloud data storage access & specialised software. The DS lab offers a dedicated physical enclosure for staff and students to work on humanistic research projects.

4. Plans are in progress for the Medical and Science Library to consolidate and relocate into a 3-storey space at the new Faculty of Dentistry Building by 2020. The proposed space will create a more synergistic relationship between Medical and Science faculties, promoting interdisciplinary connections between research and academia.
