SciNavigate Compass: Mapping Your Research and Scholarship Journey

Keen to explore research opportunities through scholarships, but not sure where to start? In this insightful session, hear first-hand stories from student representatives on how they leveraged funding for their research journey. Topics such as scholarship options, eligibility criteria and application process will be discussed. Student representatives will also share their personal experiences and advice on identifying potential funding options and choosing the best opportunity fit for individual goals.

Tiffany is the President of the NUS Science Journalism Club. As a final-year undergraduate majoring in English Language and Linguistics, she is passionate about science communication and making complex ideas accessible through compelling storytelling. As the moderator of this semester's SciNavigate, she looks forward to facilitating discussions that help students navigate scholarship opportunities and funding landscapes effectively.

Cornelius Lee

Life Sciences Graduate
Cornelius, a recent Life Sciences graduate was awarded the A*STAR National Science Scholarship (PhD) which fully funds his PhD studies overseas. His research interest is in virology and is currently doing his research in A*STAR Infectious Diseases Labs under Prof Marco Vignuzzi as part of the scholarship research attachment requirements. He is hoping to pursue his PhD in the United States of America.

Sridhar Shruti

Sridhar Shruti

Year 3 PhD Student, Cancer Science Institute of Singapore (CSI)
Shruti Sridhar is a third-year PhD student at the Cancer Science Institute of Singapore (CSI), with a CSI Singapore PhD Graduate Scholarship. Her research focuses on the tumour microenvironment in diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). She has expertise in bioinformatics and computational analysis for spatial biology, leveraging advanced data-driven approaches to study cell-cell interactions and immune landscapes in cancer. Shruti has co-authored studies on macrophage heterogeneity and oncogene coexpression patterns in DLBCL, contributing to a deeper understanding of cancer biology and potential therapeutic strategies.

Chew Ern Sen

Chew Ern Sen

Year 3 PhD Student, Cancer Science Institute of Singapore (CSI)
Ern Sen earned his undergraduate degree at the National University of Singapore. He conducted honours research under Associate Professor Liu Haiyan studying the regulation of inflammatory response. Currently, Ern Sen is a Year 3 PhD student in the Cancer Science Institute of Singapore (CSI) with a CSI Singapore PhD Graduate Scholarship and is working under Professor Chng Wee Joo. His current study focuses on the formulation of novel therapies against a rare form of non-Hodgkin lymphoma through plasma membrane profiling.
