NUS Libraries is honoured to receive a generous donation of private papers and artefacts from Wang Sha—a beloved icon of Singapore's Chinese-language entertainment industry.
Join us for a special event paying tribute to Wang Sha's rich and multidimensional legacy. Under the theme Comedy and Compassion, three insightful talks will explore his unique ability to blend humour with humanity, his enduring influence on the performing arts, and his generous contributions to society.
Continue the journey through physical and virtual exhibits that bring Wang Sha’s story to life. Guests can also try their luck at a nostalgic tikam tikam game and capture memories at our Wang Sha-themed photo booth.

Dr Sim Chuin Peng
Deputy University Librarian, National University of Singapore
Dr Sim earned his PhD from the National University of Singapore and has served at NUS Libraries since 1993, where he oversees collection management, special collections, archives, and digital preservation. He chairs the Taskforce for Licensing of Electronic Resources under the Singapore Alliance of University Libraries. His research interests include collection development, digitisation of Southeast Asian cultural heritage, Ming—Qing history, Chinese publishing history, and bibliographical studies. Dr Sim is the author of three monographs and co-editor of the Catalogue of Pre-Republican Chinese Books at NUS Libraries. He has also published extensively in academic journals across Greater China.

Dr Yap Soo Ei
Manager (Education and Youth Engagement), *SCAPE
Soo Ei works at *SCAPE, a non-profit organisation with a mission to empower youth in pursuing their interests and passion. Prior to joining *SCAPE, she was a research fellow at the National University of Singapore (between 2022 and 2025) where she assisted A/Prof Xu Lanjun in the setting up of a database on Chinese Popular Cultures in Postwar Singapore and Malaya as well as lecturing on a postgrad module “Chinese Diaspora and Mass Media in the 20th Century”.

Postgraduate, National University of Singapore
Khor Yi Heng graduated from the Department of Chinese Language and Literature at National Taiwan University and is currently pursuing a master's degree in Chinese studies at the National University of Singapore. Her research interests include Singaporean and Malaysian literature and culture, Sinophone studies, and modern and contemporary Chinese literature.

Su Zhangkai
Associate, Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS)
Zhangkai is an educator and researcher in the fields of media, entertainment, and cultural history. He currently lectures at the SUSS and serves as a member of the Chinese Programme Advisory Committee under the Infocomm Media Development Authority of Singapore. He was previously a commissioned research fellow with the Hong Kong Film Archive and Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre. Zhangkai has authored and edited several works on film, opera, and popular entertainment history, including "#Agak Agak – 90 Stories of Wang Sha and Ye Feng" (2019).
