EBSCO eBooks: Thorium Reader for Offline Reading
EBSCO has introduced a new Digital Rights Management (DRM) system for its eBooks.
Thorium Reader is now the recommended application for downloading and reading EBSCO eBooks offline, replacing Adobe Digital Editions.
What you need to know
- Install Thorium Reader on your device to read downloaded EBSCO eBooks.
- When downloading an eBook, EBSCO will provide an LCP passphrase.
- Enter the passphrase when opening the downloaded eBook in Thorium Reader for the first time.
- Thorium Reader will remember previously entered passphrases on the same device, so you generally do not need to enter them again.
- The same LCP-protected eBook can be accessed on up to six devices using the relevant passphrase.
- Thorium Reader can also open DRM-free EPUB and PDF files, as well as LCP-protected eBooks from other providers.
Note: Adobe Digital Editions should no longer be used for newly downloaded LCP-protected EBSCO eBooks.
