Experience : Cultural Exhibition by Helix Publicity

On the 21st of November, residents celebrated the cultural diversity in Helix House through exotic food and hearty conversations. Organised by the Helix House Publicity team, the cultural exchange event brought many residents together.

Food is the ingredient that binds us together

With Helix House compromising residents hailing from 37 different nationalities, Helixians were invited to share their favourite cuisines and snacks from their hometown. Among the array of cuisines shared by our residents, three tantalising pastries/snacks were chosen to be distributed out to residents.

From China, the delightful Bing Tang Hu Lu stole the show. It consists of several skewered fruits perfectly honeyed and sugared. Refreshing and bursting with flavour, it is no surprise that the traditional Chinese snack originated as a prescription to cure the illness of an Imperial concubine.

Singapore’s Pola Snack sparked nostalgia, stirring cherished childhood memories for many while serving as a fitting introduction to Singaporean snacks for others

Finally, from Azerbaijan, the sweet and savoury Baklava enchanted us all. Filled with layers of thin pastry, honey and an assortment of nuts, the Baklava is a delectable taste of tradition.

While getting to savour the colourful array of food distributed was exciting in itself, the cultural exchange event was meaningful because of the diverse and unique stories that were shared. Indeed, the event brought residents of all nationalities together, as they gathered around to eat and browse the mini-exhibition which displayed the favourite cuisines of Helix residents. Together, Helixians were able to experience a tapestry of wonderful flavours and create precious shared memories.
