Learning to Learn with AI: Strategies to Enhance Information Seeking & Retention

Explore how to leverage AI as a thinking partner to strengthen core learning skills and support cognitive development. This hands-on session connects principles of metacognition and self-regulated learning with practical AI workflows, showing how AI can scaffold thinking, enhance information seeking, and support long-term retention.

Magdeline is Vice University Librarian and Cluster Head of Digital Strategy & Innovation at NUS Libraries. Some of her interests relate to pedagogical research, innovative teaching methods, educational interventions, and research impact assessment. She received her B.Sc. (Hons) and M.Sc. in Chemistry from NUS, and Ph.D. in Chemistry from NTU.

Year 1 Pharmaceutical Science Student and Science & Technology Scholar
Yifei is a Year 1 Pharmaceutical Science student and Science & Technology scholar who has "cracked the code" on study efficiency. By treating AI as a rigorous thinking partner rather than a shortcut, he developed the EQT Framework (Explain, Question, Test)—a method that helped him achieve a 95% closed-book midterm score with just 6 hours of focused preparation. In this session, Yifei will demonstrate how to replicate this success using Google Gemini 3 and NotebookLM, teaching you how to drastically cut study time while mastering complex concepts.
