NUS Libraries is pleased to announce the upcoming exhibition, "Art with the Heart," featuring paintings by persons with dementia. It will be held at the NUS Medicine+Science Library, Level 1 Atrium, from 7 August to 20 September.
This unique exhibition will showcase acrylic paintings on canvases and sketches on drawing paper over 3.5 years, detailing the hours taken to complete each artwork. Studies have also shown that using arts as a medium for care and self-care in dementia does have a positive impact and such interventions seem to alleviate the effects of dementia.
The exhibition is the result of an exceptional and painstaking endeavor by the elderly at the AWWA Dementia Day Care Centre @ Yishun, with the help of volunteers.
Do check out the exhibition in support of this labor of love and join us in raising awareness for Mental Health in Singapore.
