The BookBridge has just won the year’s iF DESIGN AWARD in the discipline of Interior Architecture. Organized in Germany since 1953, the iF seal signifies good design, for consumers and the design community. Designed and developed by a team led by Assoc Prof Shinya Okuda from the NUS School of Design and Environment’s (SDE) Department of Architecture, it enables the public to view our library's closed rare book collection from the plaza, with its long-span shelves symbolising one of our missions of "Bridging Knowledge".

One of the first structural applications of tropical Mass Engineered Timber (MET) made from fast-growing tropical plantations, the BookBridge can retain atmospheric carbon in solid status for the long-term, becoming a true game-changer in the global warming era.
