Welcome to the Helix House website!
We started admitting residents in August 2023 and we have had a great year. Within the first year, more than 20 Interest Groups (IGs) were set up by enthusiastic and talented residents; our Resident Fellows (RFs) organised over 20 Signature Events that included an overseas experiential learning trip, local heritage and cultural trails, wellness walks, wall art painting, dancing, and community engagement; and our Resident Assistants (RAs) and Floor Leaders (FLs) in collaboration with their RFs, had been active in organising get-together sessions. Not forgetting are the Appreciation Lunch we had for our partners such as our Housing Services colleagues, maintenance and cleaning crew, the Appreciation Dinner for our student leaders, and the Graduation Dinner for residents who were graduating. With a tagline of “DNA that binds”, we aspire to connect and inspire our resident to remain authentic, thoughtful, optimistic, and persistent in navigating exciting opportunities as well as challenges. Similar to the name of the House, the helix shape means connectedness and resilience in its purest, biological form.
Happiness is one key value we believe in. We recognise that happiness is not a given but an emotional state that we hope to support our residents in working toward. We want to materialise this through creating a close knit and caring living-learning environment, and opportunities for positive interactions.
We look forward to having our returning residents to enhance what they did and our new residents to add to our array of programmes, activities, events, initiatives, and exciting changes. In the coming academic year, as a community, we hope to focus on integration and environmental sustainability efforts.
