Temenggong Prize

In 2022, the Temenggong Artists-in-Residence Ltd made an endowed gift of S$75,000 to establish the Temenggong Prize to encourage and recognise excellence in our undergraduate students. Subject to rule 6 below, the cash prizes will be awarded annually and governed by the following conditions:

  1. Top student(s) in selected courses in Art History
    1. Each cash prize is valued at S$500.
    2. The cash prize will be awarded to the top two best students who meet the following criteria:
      1. declared a Minor in Art History;
      2. obtained a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.50;
      3. completed the core course AH2101 in the academic year under consideration; and
      4. completed at least one AH-coded elective course.
    3. In case of a tie, the average marks of all AH-coded minor courses read in the academic year shall be used.
    4. Students should have delivered a consistent and outstanding performance in any AH-coded elective course(s) read. The Selection Committee will take into consideration the candidate’s overall performance in the AH-coded elective course(s) based on feedback from the lecturers.
  2. Top student in the Art History Minor Programme
    1. The cash prize is valued at S$1000
    2. The cash prize will be awarded to the best graduating student who has completed the requirements in the Minor in Art History.
    3. The primary criterion is the average grade point of all minor courses read. In case of a tie, the GPA shall be used.
    4. Student should have delivered a consistent and outstanding performance in the Minor electives. The Selection Committee will take into consideration the candidate’s overall performance in the Minor electives based on feedback from the lecturers.
  3. History student who writes an excellent Honours Thesis on the topic of museums / heritage / art / visual cultures
    1. The cash prize is valued at S$2000
    2. The cash prize will be awarded to the History student who writes the best Honours Thesis on the topic of museums/heritage/art/visual cultures in the academic year under consideration.
    3. In case of a tie, the GPA shall be used.
  4. In the event of there being more candidates of equal merit for the award, the Board of Undergraduate Studies or its nominee may, subject to available funds, distribute the award or make additional awards in such manner as it deems fit.
  5. The prizes are open to all students regardless of citizenship.
  6. No award will be made unless there is a candidate of sufficient merit.
  7. The prize will be awarded by the Board of Undergraduate Studies or its nominee.
  8. This gift shall be governed by the University Statutes and Regulations, specifically, Statute 7 on Gifts to the University and the corresponding Regulation.
  9. The Kamala Club, Singapore Medal

    Donated in 2017 by The Kamala Club, Singapore, a gold medal is awarded annually from the proceeds of a capital sum of $75,000. The award is governed by the following conditions:

    1. Subject to rule 3 below, a gold medal will be awarded annually to the best performing graduating female Indian undergraduate who has obtained an Honours (Highest Distinction), or equivalent.
    2. The award recipient must be a Singapore Citizen.
    3. No award will be made unless there is a candidate of sufficient merit.
    4. In the event that there is more than one candidate who fulfils the rules listed above, the student with the highest number of A+, A, A- throughout his/her undergraduate degree programme will be awarded the prize. In the event of a tie, the candidates concerned may be interviewed by a Selection Committee (comprising members of the Board of Undergraduate Studies) to determine who is the most deserving candidate.
    5. The prize will be awarded by the Board of Undergraduate Studies or its nominee.
    6. This gift shall be governed by the University Statutes and Regulations, specifically, Statute 7 on Gifts to the University and the corresponding Regulation.

     

    Tin Chew Hong Prize

    In 2021, Tin Pei Ling donated an expendable sum of $15,000 to establish the Tin Chew Hong Prize to encourage and recognise excellence in our USP graduating students.

    The prize is governed by the following conditions:

    1. Subject to rule 3 below, two prizes will be awarded each year to two graduating students from the University Scholars Programme (USP) who are not only well-rounded individuals exemplifying academic excellence, but have also reflected a strong commitment to community service, preferably in the areas of the elderly, ageing or gerontology. This is regardless of ethnicity or nationality of the candidates.
    2. The prize, valued at S$250 each, will be in the form of cash.
    3. No award will be made unless there is a candidate of sufficient merit.
    4. The prize will be awarded by the Board of Undergraduate Studies or its nominee.
    5. If no award is made in any year, the unutilized amount will be added to the fund.
    6. This gift shall be governed by the University Statutes and Regulations, specifically, Statute 7 on Gifts to the University and the corresponding Regulation.

     

    TM Asia Life Medal and Prize

    First donated in 1982 by the Asia Life Assurance Society Ltd, the Asia Life Gold Medal was awarded from the proceeds of a capital sum of $10,000 to the student with the best overall results in CS Stream in the third year of study of the B.Sc. (Computer & Information Sciences) degree.

    Following the re-structuring of the Computer & Information Sciences degree programme, Asia Life Assurance Society Ltd donated an additional $5,000 in 1998. The proceeds from the capital sum of $15,000 are used to award a medal and cash prize, valued at $200 to one of the top students pursuing the three-year technical focus in the Bachelor of Computing degree programme, on the condition that the student has not received any other award.

    Following the conversion of the Bachelor of Computing programmes to direct four year programmes, the award was given to the top student in the Bachelor of Computing (Computational Biology) programme.

    With the discontinuation of the Bachelor of Computing in Computational Biology programme, the award is now governed by the following conditions:

    1. Subject to rule 3 below, the gold medal and cash prize, valued at $200 will be made to a top graduate in the Bachelor of Science (Business Analytics) programme.
    2. The award will be made by the Board of Undergraduate Studies or its nominee.
    3. No award will be made if there is no candidate of sufficient merit.
    4. This gift shall be governed by the University Statutes and Regulations, specifically, Statute 7 on Gifts to the University and the corresponding Regulation.

     

    TP Dental Surgeons Medal

    Donated in 1992 by Drs Tay & Partners Dental Surgeons, two TP Dental Surgeons Medals will be awarded annually from the proceeds of two capital sums of $15,000 each. One gold medal will be awarded to the best student with distinction in Anatomy successfully completing the First Professional B.D.S Examination. Another gold medal will be awarded to the Best All-Round Final Year Student during the Final Professional BDS Examination.

    The award is governed by the following conditions:

    1. Subject to rule 4 below, one gold medal is awarded by the Board of Undergraduate Studies on the recommendation of the relevant Board of Examiners to the best student with distinction in Anatomy successfully completing the First Professional B.D.S Examination.
    2. In the event that no student is eligible for award of a medal, a cash prize may be awarded to the student who obtains the highest mark and an 'A' grade for the subject.
    3. Another gold medal will be awarded to the Best All-Round Final Year Student during the Final Professional BDS Examination who has:
      1. an outstanding academic record over the period of his course of study;
      2. a distinguished record in either extra-curricular activities or public service in Singapore; and
      3. held positions of leadership or responsibility in the Faculty or the University.
    4. No award will be made unless there is a candidate of sufficient merit.
    5. In the event of there being more than one candidate of equal merit, the Board of Examiners will take into consideration the performance of the candidates during the year as well as their examination results.
    6. This gift shall be governed by the University Statutes and Regulations, specifically, Statute 7 on Gifts to the University and the corresponding Regulation.

     

    T Y Lin Medal and Prize

    Donated by 1997 by T Y Lin South East Asia Pte Ltd, a gold medal and cash prize are awarded from the proceeds of a capital sum of $15,000.

    1. Subject to rule 3 below, the medal and cash prize will be awarded to the best graduate majoring in Structural Engineering in the examinations leading to the degree of Master of Science (Civil Engineering).
    2. The award will be made annually by the Board of Graduate Studies on the recommendation of the relevant Board of Examiners.
    3. No award will be made unless there is a candidate of sufficient merit.
    4. The cash prize will be paid from the balance or the proceeds available after the purchase of the gold medal.

     

    T. H. Elliot Gold Medal and Prize

    In 1986, the T. H. Elliot Memorial Scholarship Fund was made available for the award of a gold medal and a book prize instead of a scholarship or bursary. The proceeds of the capital sum of $15,130 were to be used for the award of the gold medal and book prize (valued at $100) respectively to the best honours student in Pharmacy who obtained at least Second Class Honours (Upper Division) in the Examination for the degree of B.Sc. (Pharmacy) with Honours and to the student who passed the Final Professional Part II B.Sc. (Pharmacy) Examination and who was second best in general proficiency throughout his course of study.

    The first awards were made in the academic year 1986-7. In 2002, the Pharmaceutical Society of Singapore reviewed the awards and the rules were revised as follows:

    1. (a) The gold medal will be awarded to the student who has achieved the best overall performance in all the examinations of pharmacy courses (as identified by the Department) throughout the course of study. 
      (b) The cash prize (valued at $200) will be awarded to the student who has achieved the best overall performance in all the examinations of pharmaceutical chemistry courses throughout the course of study.
    2. Subject to rule 3, the gold medal and the cash prize will be awarded by the Board of Undergraduate Studies on the recommendation of the relevant Board of Examiners.
    3. No award will be made unless there is a candidate of sufficient merit
    4. This gift shall be governed by the University Statutes and Regulations, specifically, Statute 7 on Gifts to the University and the corresponding Regulation.

     

    Tan Boon Khak Medal and Prize

    Donated in 1982 by Tan Boon Khak Holdings Pte Ltd, a gold medal is awarded from the proceeds of a capital sum of $10,000. From 2016, an additional cash prize of $400 will be awarded to complement the gold medal.

    The award is governed by the following conditions:

    1. Subject to rule 4 below, a gold medal and cash prize of $400 will be awarded to a student for outstanding work in Sociology in the Arts 3 Examination.
    2. The award will be made by the Board of Undergraduate Studies or its nominee.
    3. The primary criterion is the SJGPA (subject grade point average of all major courses read). The Grade Point Average (GPA) shall be used as the tie-breaker.
    4. No award will be made unless there is a candidate of sufficient merit.
    5. This gift shall be governed by the University Statutes and Regulations, specifically, Statute 7 on Gifts to the University and the corresponding Regulation.

     

    Tan Choon Kim Medal and Prize

    Donated in 1999 by Dr Tan Choon Kim, an award is made from the proceeds of a capital sum of S$15,000. Dr Tan Choon Kim made additional gifts in 2012 and 2013. With these donations, the total capital sum is S$75,000.

    The award is governed by the following conditions:

    1. Subject to rule 3 below, a gold medal and cash prize of $1,000 will be given to the student who is first in the Third Professional Examination for the degrees of M.B.,B.S.
    2. The award will be made by the Board of Undergraduate Studies or its nominee.
    3. No award will be made unless there is a candidate of sufficient merit.
    4. This gift shall be governed by the University Statutes and Regulations, specifically, Statute 7 on Gifts to the University and the corresponding Regulation.

     

    Tan Choon Kim Academic Excellence Medal and Prize

    Donated in 1999 by Dr Tan Choon Kim, an award is made from the proceeds of a capital sum of S$15,000. Dr Tan Choon Kim made additional gifts in 2012 and 2013. With these donations, the total capital sum is S$75,000.

    The award is governed by the following conditions:

    1. Subject to rule 3 below, a gold medal and cash prize of $1,000 will be given to the student who is first in the Examination in the First Professional Examination for the degrees of M.B.,B.S.
    2. The award will be made by the Board of Undergraduate Studies or its nominee.
    3. No award will be made unless there is a candidate of sufficient merit.
    4. This gift shall be governed by the University Statutes and Regulations, specifically, Statute 7 on Gifts to the University and the corresponding Regulation.

     

    Tan Huat Neo Medal and Prize

    Professor Lily Kong donated an expendable sum of $15,000 in 2018 to establish the Tan Huat Neo Medal and Prize in remembrance of her late mother, Mdm Tan Huat Neo.

    Subject to rule 2 below, the award is governed by the following conditions:

    1. A gold medal and cash prize of S$500 will be awarded annually to an outstanding Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences student for submitting the best Geography Honours Year Thesis in an academic year.
    2. No award will be made unless there is a candidate of sufficient merit.
    3. The award will be made by the Board of Undergraduate Studies or its nominee.
    4. If there are no awards presented at any given year, the unutilised amount will be added back to the fund.
    5. This gift shall be governed by the University Statutes and Regulations, specifically, Statute 7 on Gifts to the University and the corresponding Regulation.

     

    Tan Seng Huat Distinction Award

    Mr Thomas Hui Jor Boon, next of kin of Prof Tan Seng Huat, donated an expendable gift of S$16,000 to establish an award to recognize the Master of Medicine (Anaesthesiology) [MMed (Anaes)] Part C Examination candidate who has achieved outstanding performance in the examination.

    The award is governed by the following conditions:

    1. Subject to criteria 6 below, the award comprising a cash prize of S$800 will be given to the candidate with the highest mark in the MMed (Anaes) Part C Examination in a calendar year.
    2. The cash prize will be awarded to the second-best candidate if the best candidate has been awarded the Tan Seng Huat Gold medal. (i.e., No recipient should receive both the Tan Seng Huat Gold Medal and the Tan Seng Huat Distinction Award.)
    3. The award will be awarded once annually regardless of the number of examination diets.
    4. In the event of a tie, the cash prize will be apportioned equally among the awardees.
    5. The award will be made by the Board of Graduate Studies or its nominee.
    6. This gift shall be governed by the University Statutes and Regulations, specifically NUS Statute 7 on Gifts to the University and the corresponding Regulation.

     

    Tan Seng Huat Gold Medal

    Donated in 1990 by Dr Tan Seng Huat, a gold medal and cash prize of S$1,200 are awarded from the proceeds of a capital sum of $15,000. The award is governed by the following conditions:

    1. Subject to rule 2, 3 and 4 below, a gold medal and cash prize of S$1,200 will be awarded to the most outstanding candidate in the first attempt of the Master of Medicine (Anaesthesiology) [MMed (Anaes)] Part C Examination.
    2. The candidate must have passed at least 10 out of 12 VIVA stations in the MMed (Anaes) Part C Examination.
    3. The candidate must not have taken any other graduate examination which is related to Anaesthesiology, besides MMed or MMed equivalent examinations.
    4. No award will be made unless there is a candidate of sufficient merit.
    5. In the event of a tie, the recipients will receive a gold medal each, but the cash prize will be apportioned equally.
    6. The award will be made by the Board of Graduate Studies or its nominee.
    7. This gift shall be governed by the University Statutes and Regulations, specifically NUS Statute 7 on Gifts to the University and the corresponding Regulation.

     

    Tan Siak Kew Gold Medal

    Donated in 1978 by TSK Investment Co (Pte) Ltd, in memory of the late Siak Kew, four gold medals were awarded from the proceeds of a capital sum of $25,000. As a result of the transfer of the School of Accountancy to Nanyang Technological Institute in the session of 1987-8, a proportionate amount of the capital sum and accrued interest was transferred to the Institute. Consequently, three gold medals are available for award from the proceeds of a capital sum of $23,750 to students in the National University of Singapore from the session 1987-8.

    1. The medals are awarded by the Board of Undergraduate Studies on the recommendation of the relevant Board of Examiners, one to each of the best students in:
      1. Science II Examination for the degree of Bachelor of Science;
      2. Science III Examination for the degree Bachelor of Science;
      3. Bachelor of Business Administration II Examination.
    2. In respect of the medal awarded to the Faculty of Business Administration, a student's performance in the First and Second Examinations will be taken into consideration.
    3. No award will be made unless there is a candidate of sufficient merit.

     

    Tan Teck Chwee Prizes

    Two prizes valued at $50 each, have been donated by Mr Tan Teck Chwee for award on the results of the Science III Examination for the degree of Bachelor of Science.

    1. The prizes are awarded by the Board of Undergraduate Studies on the recommendation of the Board of Examiners:
      1. one to the best student in Pure Mathematics; and
      2. one to the best student in Applied Mathematics.
    2. No award will be made unless there is a candidate of sufficient merit.
    3. The prize will be in the form of cash.

     

    Tang Yuen Seng Prize

    In 2016, Mr CC Tang donated an expendable sum of S$15,000 to the College of Design and Engineering to establish three prizes annually in honour of his late father, Mr Tang Yuen Seng. The award is governed by the following conditions:

    1. Subject to rule 3 below, the award will be given to the student with the best overall GPA in each of the three Master of Science programmes offered by the Department of Industrial Systems Engineering & Management, namely,
      1. Master of Science in Management of Technology and Innovation (formerly known as Management of Technology),
      2. Master of Science in Systems Design & Management, and
      3. Master of Science in Intellectual Property Management.
    2. Each award consists of $500 Singapore Dollars and is given to the students in the form of cash.
    3. No award shall be made if there is no candidate of sufficient merit.
    4. The prizes will be awarded by the Board of Graduate Studies or its nominee.
    5. If there are no awards presented at any given year, the unutilised amount will be added back to the fund.
    6. This gift shall be governed by the University Statutes and Regulations, specifically, Statute 7 on Gifts to the University and the corresponding Regulation.

     

    Tata Consultancy Services Asia Pacific Medal and Prize

    In 2004, Tata Consultancy Services Asia Pacific Pte Ltd donated an expendable sum of $15,000 for a gold medal and cash prize to be awarded from the academic year 2004/2005. The award is governed by the following conditions:

    1. Subject to rule 3 below, the medal and prize will be awarded to the second best graduate throughout the course of study for the Bachelor of Computing (Honours) in the School of Computing.
    2. The medal and prize award will be made by the Board of Undergraduate Studies on the recommendation of the relevant Board of Examiners. The value of the cash prize is $500.
    3. No award will be made unless there is a candidate of sufficient merit.
    4. If no award is made in any year, the money available may be used to make more than one award in a subsequent year if there are candidates of sufficient merit.
    5. This gift shall be governed by the University Statutes and Regulations, specifically, Statute 7 on Gifts to the University and the corresponding Regulation.

     

    Tate & Lyle Sugar Refineries Prizes

    Presented originally in 1974 for award in Applied Chemistry, the cash prize was made available in 1977 to a student in the Department of Chemical Engineering. It is awarded from the proceeds of a capital sum of $2,000, being the balance of a grant donated by Tate & Lyle Ltd. for research in Applied Chemistry.

    1. The prize has a value of $100 and is awarded by the Board of Undergraduate Studies on the recommendation of the Board of Examiners to the best student in the Bachelor of Engineering (Chemical) III Examination.
    2. No award will be made unless there is a candidate of sufficient merit.
    3. If in any year there are, in the opinion of the Board of Undergraduate Studies, two or more candidates meriting an award, the proceeds available from the capital sum may be utilised in such manner as to provide for such additional prizes as may be appropriate.
    4. The prize will be in the form of cash.

     

    Terrell Medal

    Presented in 1965 by Mr J. M. Robertson, a private dental practitioner, the silver medal is awarded annually. The award is governed by the following conditions:

    1. Subject to rule 3 below, a silver medal is awarded to the graduate who has shown the greatest proficiency in Prosthodontics.
      In the event that no student is eligible for the medal award, a cash prize of S$100/- may be awarded to the student who obtains the highest mark and an 'A' grade for the subject.
    2. The award will be made by the Board of Undergraduate Studies or its nominee.
    3. No award will be made unless there is a candidate of sufficient merit.
    4. This gift shall be governed by the University Statutes and Regulations, specifically, Statute 7 on Gifts to the University and the corresponding Regulation.

     

    Texas Instruments Prize on Digital Signal Processing and Systems

    Donated in 1997 by Texas Instruments Singapore (Pte) Limited, a cash prize is awarded from the proceeds of a capital sum of $15,000. The award is governed by the following conditions:

    1. Subject to rule 3 below, the cash prize will be awarded to the student with the highest marks in a course in the area of digital signal processing and systems.
    2. The prize will be awarded by the Board of Undergraduate Studies on the recommendation of the relevant Board of Examiners.
    3. No award will be made unless there is a candidate of sufficient merit.
    4. If in any year there is, in the opinion of the Board of Undergraduate Studies, more than one candidate meriting the award, the prize may be shared by the candidates in such manner as the Board of Undergraduate Studies thinks fit.
    5. The prize will have a value of $200 and it will be in the form of cash.

     

    Thambipillai Medal and Prize

    A sum of $1,917 was donated in 1968 by the Singapore Medical Association to provide for the annual award of a medal and prize in memory of the late Dr V. Thambipillai, Senior Lecturer in Anatomy.

    The award is governed by the following conditions:

    1. Subject to rule 3 below, a bronze medal and cash prize of $500 will be given to the student who is third in the First Professional Examination for the degrees of M.B.,B.S.
    2. The award will be made by the Board of Undergraduate Studies or its nominee.
    3. No award will be made unless there is a candidate of sufficient merit.
    4. This gift shall be governed by the University Statutes and Regulations, specifically, Statute 7 on Gifts to the University and the corresponding Regulation.

     

    The Gower Prize

    Donated in 1989 by Professor L. C. B. Gower, the Gower Prize is awarded from the proceeds of a capital sum of $4,600 to the law student attaining the highest marks in each of the teaching sections of Company Law.

    1. The cash award, valued at $100, is made by the Board of Undergraduate Studies on the recommendation of the Board of Examiners for the relevant LL.B. Examination.
    2. No award will be made unless there is a candidate of sufficient merit.
    3. If in any AY, there is, in the opinion of the Board of Examiners, more than one candidate meriting the award, the Board may, in its discretion, apportion the Prize amongst the successful candidates within the respective section(s).

     

    The Ven. Dr. D. D. Chelliah Gold Medal

    The Ven. Dr. D. D. Chelliah Gold Medal is awarded from the proceeds of a capital sum of $15,000 donated in 1993 by the children of the late Ven. Dr. D. D. Chelliah. The award is governed by the following conditions:

    1. The medal shall be known as the Ven. Dr. D. D. Chelliah Gold Medal in perpetuity.
    2. Subject to rule 4 below, the gold medal is awarded to the best student in Mathematics, who has obtained First Class Honours in the examination leading to the degree of Bachelor of Science with Honours and has also distinguished himself throughout his course of study.
    3. The award will be made by the Board of Undergraduate Studies on the recommendation of the relevant Board of Examiners.
    4. No award will be made unless there is a candidate of sufficient merit.
    5. This gift shall be governed by the University Statutes and Regulations, specifically, Statute 7 on Gifts to the University and the corresponding Regulation.

     

    Thio Kok Foe and Choo Kim Beng Medal and Prize in Nursing

    Donated in 2007 by Dr Della Lee in memory of her parents, medals and prizes are awarded from the proceeds of a capital sum of $200,000. The awards are governed by the following conditions:

    1. Subject to rule 3 below, a gold medal and a cash prize of $1000 will be awarded to the best student completing the Bachelor of Science with Honours (Nursing) programme.

      A silver medal and a cash prize of $500 will be awarded to the second best student completing the Bachelor of Science with Honours (Nursing) programme.

      For students in Bachelor of Science (Nursing) programme, cash prizes of $500 each will be awarded to the best students completing Nursing 1, Nursing 2 and Nursing 3 respectively.  Cash prizes of $250 each will be awarded to the second best students completing Nursing 1, Nursing 2 and Nursing 3 respectively.

    2. The awards will be made by the Board of Undergraduate Studies on the recommendation of the relevant Board of Examiners.
    3. No award will be made unless there is a candidate of sufficient merit.
    4. In the event that there being more than one candidate of equal merit, the Board of Examiners will take into consideration the performance of candidates during the period of candidature in addition to their examination results.
    5. This gift shall be governed by the University Statutes and Regulations, specifically, Statute 7 on Gifts to the University and the corresponding Regulation.

     

    Toh Chin Chye Prize

    Donated in 1975 by Kesatuan Akademis Universiti Singapura (an association of Malaysian academics who taught in the University of Singapore) and subsequently matched by a similar amount from Dr Toh Chin Chye, former Vice-Chancellor of the University, a cash prize is awarded annually to deserving undergraduate student.

    The award is governed by the following conditions:

    1. Subject to rule 4 below, a cash prize valued at S$500 each will be awarded to a first-year undergraduate student who has
      • successfully completed the first-year examination of his/her course of study for a degree; and,
      • has a stellar community service and extra-curricular activities record.
    2. Nominations for the award will be made from among the most outstanding students of the Faculties by the Deans concerned, and each candidate nominated for the prize will be required to submit to the selection committee their record of community service and extra-curricular activities.
    3. The prize will be awarded by the Board of Undergraduate Studies or its nominee.
    4. No award will be made unless there is a candidate of sufficient merit.
    5. This gift shall be governed by the University Statutes and Regulations, specifically, Statute 7 on Gifts to the University and the corresponding Regulation.

     

    Too Joon Chew PhD Prize

    The Too Joon Chew Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Prize was established in 2022 by the Too family in memory of their late father, Mr Too Joon Chew

    The award is governed by the following conditions:

    1. Subject to rule 4 below, a cash prize valued at $1,000 each will be awarded to the top three PhD graduate with the most outstanding work done in their respective field of research.
    2. Each award is to be given to a single recipient.
    3. The prizes will be awarded by the Board of Graduate Studies or its nominee.
    4. No award will be made unless there is a candidate of sufficient merit.
    5. This gift shall be governed by the University Statutes and Regulations, specifically, Statute 7 on Gifts to the University and the corresponding Regulation.

     

    Tratman Medal

    Presented in 1950 by Professor E. K. Tratman, Professor of Dental Surgery in the University of Malaya until 1950, the silver medal is awarded annually by the Board of Undergraduate Studies on the recommendation of the Faculty of Dentistry to the most distinguished graduate in Dentistry for the year provided he is considered by the Board of Undergraduate Studies to be of sufficient merit. In awarding the medal, account will be taken of a student's record over the complete course of study.

     

    Tye Cho Yook Gold Medal

    The medal is awarded from the proceeds of a capital sum of $15,000 donated in 1989 by Mr Tye Cho Yook, former Associate Professor in the Department of Community, Occupational and Family Medicine.

    1. Subject to there being a candidate of sufficient merit, the medal will be awarded each year to the student who has distinguished himself/herself in the Examination leading to the degree of Master of Public Health.
    2. The medal will be awarded by the Board of Graduate Studies, on the recommendation of the Board of Examiners.
