Degree Scrolls

Students who have officially been conferred/awarded their degrees or graduate diplomas will be issued scrolls together with ONE (1) complimentary official transcript. 

The degree scroll reflects the following:

  • Student’s Official Name1
  • Degree Title
  • Primary Majoronly (if applicable)
  • Degree Classification (Honours) (if applicable)
  • Conferment Date3

Note1: The official name must be same as what is reflected on your NRIC or Passport at the time of conferment (graduation). Name changes must be carried out before you are officially conferred/awarded your degree as there are no amendments to the University’s records thereafter. Note2: Students who complete a Double Major, Specialisation and/or Minor successfully will receive one degree scroll, for the Primary Major only. The Second Major, Specialisation and/or Minor will, however, be recorded in the transcript. Please refer to the Double Major Programmes website for more details on Double Major.

Note3: Graduating students may complete their graduation requirements upon passing their final examinations but are only considered as “graduated” after they have been officially conferred their degrees. Please refer to the Graduation website (see ‘Types of Student Status’ and ‘Degree Conferment’) for more details.

There is only ONE (1) copy of the degree scroll issued per degree (please see Can I get a replacement of my degree scroll? below).

One complimentary hard copy official transcript will be issued with the degree scroll. You may request for additional copies of the official transcript at a fee. Please refer to the Official Transcripts website for more details.


The e-degree scrolls/diplomas and e-transcripts will be sent to graduates’ NUS Lifelong email accounts between 3 – 14 calendar days from their official conferment (graduation) date.

There are 2 types of e-scrolls and e- transcripts:

  1. OpenCerts
    • Developed by GovTech (Singapore Government).
    • Available for students admitted from August 2004 (higher degrees) and August 2005 (bachelor’s degrees) onwards.
    • The e-documents are authentic if it can be viewed and validated at the OpenCerts website or Verify NUS e-Certificates website.
  2. Verifiable PDF (V-PDF)
    • Uses advanced security technology to ensure documents are tamper-proof and self-verifiable.
    • Issued to students who graduated from 31 July 2024 onwards.
      (Students admitted from August 2004 (higher degrees) and August 2005 (bachelor’s degrees) onwards may also request a V-PDF at a charge. Please click here for more details.)
    • The e-documents are authentic if it can be viewed and validated at the OpenCerts website or Verify NUS e-Certificates website.

The respective eligibility and collection periods as follow:
for Class of 2026
- confer (graduate) from 31 July 2025 – 30 June 2026 only 

If your degree is conferred (awarded) at the end of the month, your hardcopy degree scroll will be ready for collection (by mail or by appointment) after the 25th of the next month.

Note: All modes of collection will cease from 1 June 2026 to 25 July 2026 to facilitate preparation for Commencement ceremonies.

Exceptions to the above
  • Degrees conferred (awarded) on 31 July 2025: Collect after 15 September 2025.
  • Degrees conferred (awarded) on 31 May 2026 or 30 June 2026: Collect at your scheduled Commencement ceremony, or after 25 July 2026. 

Additionally:
  • University documents such as your degree scroll, transcript, or certification/status letters may be withheld if there is a ‘Hold’ on your records. Click here for more details.
  • You may still attend the Commencement ceremony even if you have collected the hardcopy scroll earlier.
  • Graduates whose degrees were conferred on 30 June 2025 or earlier, you may collect your hardcopy degree scroll at any time of the year. Refer to the ‘Modes of Collection’ section for more details.
  1. By Courier
    You may opt to receive the scroll by courier at a fee. Any payment for postage made is non-refundable.
    The postage fees are:
    1. SGD14.00 (for addresses within Singapore), or
    2. SGD60.00 (for addresses outside of Singapore).

  2. Collection by Appointment at the Office of the University Registrar (OUR)
    By appointment only.
    1. Self-collection: Click here to make an appointment.
    2. Authorisation of Proxy: Click here to make an appointment and enter the proxy details should you be authorising one to collect on your behalf.
Please note:
  • The appointment is confirmed only when you receive the QR code by email.
  • Bring your photo ID (NRIC or Passport) and the QR code email for collection.
  • If collected by proxy, they must present your documents above, plus their own his/her own NRIC or Passport.
  • If you cannot attend, please cancel and reschedule so that the slot is freed for other graduates.
A Certification Letter (an official University letter certifying the student’s graduation) is typically issued in lieu of a degree scroll.

Degree scrolls may be replaced on a case-by-case basis at a fee of S$87.20. (Note: You may also be required to submit a 'Lost Property' (NP322) police report.)
