Degree Scrolls

Students who have officially been conferred/awarded their degrees or graduate diplomas will be issued scrolls together with ONE (1) complimentary official transcript. 


The e-degree scrolls/graduate diplomas and e-transcripts will be sent to graduates’ NUS Lifelong email account within 2 weeks from their official date of graduation (conferment) [Note: please allow at least 3 working days for processing from your date of graduation].

There are 2 types of electronic degree scrolls and electronic official transcripts:

  1. OpenCerts – The OpenCert file can only be viewed and validated at OpenCerts website (opencerts.io) or Verify NUS e-certificates website. A copy of the electronic document is available in the Skills Passport in individual MySkillsFuture account.
  2. Verifiable PDF+ – The file is in readable PDF format.Students and 3rd-party recipient can self-verify by dragging and dropping the file at the Verify NUS e-certificates website.

Note:
  • Your degree scroll will be withheld if there is a “Hold” on your record. You may log in to myEduRec to check for any “Hold(s)” and contact the relevant office to work out the necessary rectification.
  • You may still attend Commencement ceremonies even if you have collected the scroll earlier.
  • If your degree is a Joint Degree Programme (JDP), please contact the team at commencement@nus.edu.sg to check if the hard-copy scroll is ready before submitting request by courier or proceeding to book an appointment.

Note:
  • All modes of collection will cease from 1 June 2025 till after the last Commencement 2025 ceremony, to facilitate Commencement preparation.
  • Refer to the section below (‘Where can I get help?’) on other available documents as you wait for your hard-copy degree scroll.
  • Graduates whose degrees were conferred on 30 June 2024 or earlier may still collect their degree scrolls at any time of the year.

1. By Courier

You may opt to receive the scroll by courier at a fee. Please note that any payment for postage made is non-refundable.

The postage fees as follows:

  • SGD14.00 (for addresses within Singapore), or
  • SGD60.00 (for addresses outside of Singapore).

2. Collection at Office of the University Registrar (OUR)

You may also request to self-collect or authorise a proxy to collect your degree scroll from our office. An appointment is required for collection.

Note:

  • Your appointment is considered as successful only when you receive the QR code via email.
  • You will be asked to present, during collection, a photo identification (e.g., NRIC or Passport) and QR code (in email). 
    (Note: The proxy would need to present the above, as well as a copy of the graduate’s NRIC or Passport for verification.)
  • Cancel and reschedule your collection appointment if you cannot make it so that other graduates may make an appointment at the time slot.

The University typically issues a Certification Letter (an official letter certifying that the student is a graduate of the University) in lieu of degree scroll replacement. There are no fees for letters. For information on certification letters, please refer to the Letters website.

Degree scrolls may be replaced on a case-by-case basis, and at a fee of S$87.20.
(Note: You may also be required to submit a 'Lost Property' (NP322) police report.)

Please write to commencement@nus.edu.sg with the following:

  • Official name graduated with,
  • Student ID,
  • Date of birth,
  • Degree title(s) and conferment (graduation) date, 
  • Replacement reasons.

The degree scroll reflects the following:

  • Student’s Official Name1
  • Degree Title
  • Primary Majoronly (if applicable)
  • Degree Classification (Honours) (if applicable)
  • Conferment Date3

Note1: The official name must be same as what is reflected on your NRIC or Passport at the time of conferment (graduation). Name changes must be carried out before you are officially conferred/awarded your degree as there are no amendments to the University’s records thereafter. Please refer to the Responsibility for Notices/Circulars and Updates of Personal Particulars website (see ‘Official Name’) and/or Graduation website (see ‘Important Information for GRADUATING Students’) for more details

Note2: Students who complete a Double Major, Specialization and/or Minor successfully will receive one degree scroll, for the Primary Major only. The Second Major, Specialization and/or Minor will, however, be recorded in the transcript. Please refer to the Double Major Programmes website for more details on Double Major.

Note3: Graduating students may complete their graduation requirements upon passing their final examinations but are only considered as “graduated” after they have been officially conferred their degrees. Please refer to the Graduation website (see ‘Types of Student Status’ and ‘Degree Conferment’) for more details.

There is only ONE (1) copy of the degree scroll issued per degree (please see Can I get a replacement of my degree scroll? above).

One complimentary hard copy official transcript will be issued with the degree scroll. You may request for additional copies of the official transcript at a fee. Please refer to the Official Transcripts website for more details.
