The NUS AI Talent Scholarship is awarded to high calibre individuals who are enthusiastic about artificial intelligence (AI) and intend to eventually build a career in the AI industry, pursue research in AI, or become an entrepreneur related to AI. The objective is to nurture students into future leaders in AI by providing them with developmental opportunities such as mentorship, research opportunities and exposure to the global AI community.
Interested students should submit
one scholarship application to be considered for the NUS AI Talent Scholarship and the NUS Scholarships.
- Singapore Citizens
- Have strong leadership qualities and potential
- Have good co-curricular activities record
- Possess outstanding Singapore-Cambridge GCE A Level, local Polytechnic Diploma, International Baccalaureate Diploma, NUS High School Diploma or equivalent qualifications
- Applying for admission to a full-time undergraduate degree programme in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Business Artificial Intelligence Systems, or Robotics and Machine Intelligence at NUS
- Transfer applicants from local or overseas universities are not eligible
- Subsidised tuition fees (after MOE Tuition Grant)
- S$6,000 annual living allowance
- S$2,000 one-time computer allowance upon enrolment
- Annual accommodation allowance:
- S$4,700 if the scholar stays in a Hall, or
- S$4,950 if the scholar stays in Ridge View Residential College, or
- S$5,150 if the scholar stays in Houses, PGP Residence, UTown Residence, University Town Residential Colleges, NUSC Cinnamon Wing, or
- $6,500 if the scholar stays in NUSC West Wing
- S$7,500 Student Exchange Programme/ NUS Overseas Colleges allowance per semester for non-Asian countries and Japan, and S$5,000 per semester for other Asian countries, for up to a maximum of two claims. The allowance will be pro-rated for overseas Student Exchange Programme (SEP) or NUS Overseas Colleges (NOC) programmes with a duration of less than one semester
- Guaranteed SEP placement with one of NUS overseas partner universities, including priority for one of the top universities in AI, for one semester, or placement with a start-up company on an AI project in one of the NUS Overseas Colleges (NOC) locations
- Priority to be considered for on-campus accommodation for the first two years of undergraduate studies, as long as a complete hostel admission application is submitted by the second round of application window each year, and eligibility criteria for on-campus accommodation are met. This priority applies only to Halls of Residence, Houses and Student Residences, excluding Residential Colleges
- Priority to enroll in the University Town College Programme offered at the Residential Colleges, including Acacia College which has a focus on AI, and Ridge View Residential College Programme when the scholar submits a complete application within the prescribed application period and fulfils eligibility criteria for the relevant Programme. Applicants may indicate a preferred residential college at the point of application, but the eventual placement may differ. - The NUS AI Talent Scholarship is awarded to outstanding freshmen pursuing a full-time undergraduate degree programme in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Business Artificial Intelligence Systems, or Robotics and Machine Intelligence at NUS, and is tenable for the normal candidature period.
- Scholarship recipients may not concurrently hold any other scholarship, fellowship, bursary, grant, award, allowance, waiver or free aid without prior approval from the University.
- The scholarship will be renewed every semester provided the scholarship recipient maintains a Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 4.0 (or equivalent) and has good conduct.
- If the scholarship recipient decides to withdraw from the University and/or terminate the scholarship prematurely, the University reserves the right to impose repayment of all scholarship monies disbursed to the scholar.

- Submit one Referee Recommendation Form online (to be submitted separately by your Junior College/Polytechnic/High School Principal or Tutor).

- Applicants will be assessed for NUS AI Talent Scholarship suitability based on the strength of their application, and their performance in the scholarship selection interview(s), if shortlisted. Applicants shortlisted for selection interview(s) will be informed via e-mail. Selection interview(s) will be conducted from late-March onwards, and applicants will be informed of their scholarship application outcomes by late-May. To be considered for the scholarships, please ensure that you are available to attend the interview(s). Your scholarship application will be withdrawn if you are unable to attend any scheduled selection interview(s) without valid reason(s).
- NUS reserves the right to not award any scholarship if there are no candidates of sufficient merit. The decision of the selection committee is final. Enquiries or disputes surrounding its decisions will not be entertained
