The Science & Technology Undergraduate Scholarship is a freshmen scholarship offered to support outstanding Asian students (excluding Singapore citizens).
Candidates will be considered and shortlisted for the scholarship through their application for undergraduate admission to NUS.
- Citizens of an Asian country or region, excluding Singapore
- Have strong leadership qualities and potential
- Have excellent co-curricular activities record
- Possess outstanding high school results
- Applying for admission to a full-time undergraduate degree programme in Computing, Engineering (excluding Infrastructure and Project Management) or Science (excluding Environmental Studies and Pharmacy) at NUS
- Transfer applicants from local or overseas universities are not eligible
- 100% coverage of subsidised undergraduate tuition fees (after MOE Tuition Grant - scholarship recipients must take up the MOE Tuition Grant)
- S$6,000 annual living allowance
- S$1,750 one-time computer allowance upon enrolment
- S$200 one-time settling-in allowance upon enrolment
- Annual accommodation allowance equivalent to the lowest double room rate for on-campus accommodation
- Travel allowance to defray transport cost for incoming passage from home country to Singapore at the start of Programme, and return passage between Singapore and home country after the completion of Programme (subject to proof of employment).
- The scholarship is awarded to freshmen pursuing the following
full-time undergraduate programme at NUS.
- School of Computing: Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Security, Business Analytics
- College of Design and Engineering: Engineering majors only. This includes Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Science, Environmental and Sustainability Engineering, Industrial & Systems Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering
- School of Computing and College of Design and Engineering: Computer Engineering
- College of Humanities and Sciences: Science majors only (excluding Environmental Studies and Pharmacy). This includes Chemistry, Data Science and Analytics, Data Science and Economics, Food Science and Technology, Life Sciences, Mathematics, Pharmaceutical Science, Physics, Quantitative Finance, and Statistics.
- The scholarship also covers students in local Double Degree Programmes, provided the scholarship recipient's home programme falls within one of the above-mentioned programmes.
- The scholarship is tenable for the normal candidature period of the undergraduate programme at NUS.
- Scholarship recipients are required to serve a six-year bond with a Singapore-registered company immediately after graduation.
- Scholarship recipients are required to take up the MOE Tuition Grant. Besides this, they may not concurrently hold any other scholarship, fellowship, bursary, grant, award or allowance.
- The scholarship will be renewed every semester, provided the scholar maintains a Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 3.50 (or equivalent), and has good conduct.
- Scholarship recipients are restricted to one semester of overseas programme(s) (including but not limited to NUS Overseas Colleges and overseas Student Exchange Programme) for their entire candidature. The remaining period of study in NUS after the overseas programme must be at least 2 semesters.
- NUS does not guarantee and/or provide scholarship recipients with employment upon graduation.
- If the scholarship recipient decides to withdraw from the University and/or terminate the scholarship prematurely, the University reserves the right to impose repayment of all scholarship monies disbursed to the scholar.
- All eligible students applying for undergraduate admission to NUS will be considered for this scholarship.
- Invited applicants will be assessed for scholarship suitability based on the strength of their application.
- Only applicants shortlisted for the selection interview(s) will be informed via e-mail. Selection interview(s) will be conducted from January to July, and interviewed candidates will be informed of the scholarship outcomes by mid-July.
- NUS reserves the right to not award any scholarship if there are no candidates of sufficient merit. The decision of the selection committee is final. Enquiries or disputes surrounding its decisions will not be entertained.
