Singapore’s car-lite vision announced by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong in 2014 consists of a three-pronged approach: expanding the public transport system, providing alternative modes of transport and cutting dependence on private cars. With the shift in focus on recent public discussion to high COE prices, Assoc Prof Raymond Ong from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at NUS College of Design and Engineering has prompted us to remember our collective desire to move towards a car-lite society.
