Associate Professor Goh Yang Miang, from the Department of Built Environment at the NUS College of Design and Engineering, highlights that many preventable workplace accidents keep re-occurring because companies tend to implement only superficial improvements and lack a broader safety culture. Aside from holding companies and their management directly accountable for upkeeping safety standards, Associate Prof Goh suggests that other societal stakeholders can do more to ensure that workers are adequately protected.
