It was recently announced at the National Day Rally that government-paid parental leave in Singapore would be increased from five months to around seven and a half months. Dr Kalpana Vignehsa, Senior Research Fellow from the Governance and Economy Department at the Institute of Policy Studies, Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at NUS, remarks that for this latest initiative to work, employers and the society must also change their mindsets.
